“Flip a coin. When it’s in the air, you’ll know what side you’re hoping for.” | From CPA to M&A

- Arnold Rothstein, Boardwalk Empire.

When I received the interview invitation from Booth last Thursday, I wasn’t all that thrilled – even though my ego would’ve been bruised had I not received an invite (hey I’m only human). As I mentioned in a previous post, I was already set on accepting Columbia’s offer of admission barring some abominable event taking place during my visit this past weekend, which fortunately wasn’t the case. I had such a great experience interacting with current students and my future classmates (most of the attendees were early decision) that I officially accepted my offer earlier today!

So funny story – at the end of the “challenge” as we were being debriefed by Assistant Dean Mary Miller, one of my future classmates comments about how the admissions staff and previous attendees of the event were able to stay so quiet about the day’s agenda. No one seemed to know what to expect, which is truly remarkable when there are a lot of pre-MBA bloggers like myself out there. Anyway she responds by saying something like “Well there is one person here [shoots me a quick glance] who likes to share so we’ll see what happens.” I was too busy playing it off by looking around the room for “this person,” but a lot of people in the room looked right at me! That’s when I realized that I do look a lot like the caricature on my page and when you consider the few underrepresented minorities there are at business school, particularly any who resemble Bruno Mars/Tiger Woods (I actually sound like Tiger), it’s pretty easy to pick me out of a crowd if you’ve visited my blog, lol. So yeah, that’s really all I have to say about that. ;)

Pity – I was really hoping you’d give Booth a chance (I just rejected my Columbia offer in favor of Booth); it would have been great to have you in the class!
